WWII Memorial – Washington D.C. June 6th 2011
I had a few days to spend in-between working in Cleveland and Syracuse so I decided to drive to D.C. to see a friend and meet his wife and son for the first time. While I was there I went out and did some night shooting. This was the first night, I started at the Washington Monument and then heading here to the WWII Monument. I had 3 grandpas’ that served in the war and it’s not something I think about much, but while I was standing here taking this photo, I felt a connection with them and a pride of what they had done. What a generation to make so many sacrifices, not only the soldiers but everyone at home. I have been to D.C. many times but this is the first time I had been to this monument, I don’t think there will be a time I go back and don’t take a moment to stop here and pay my respects.
